Childen’s centres are an important part of the community especially within schools and help to provide full day care integrated with early education as well as child and family health services, family support and outreach to parents. Dunn Street Primary School was looking to build one of these centres in order to provide additional services to thier local community.
Thurston has a wealth of experience in delivering quality buildings for the education sector, particularly in the installation of centres for parents and children.
In 2010 Thurston won the contract for £500,000 to install a single storey, 4 bay, 275sqm SureSpan Nursery at Dunn Street Primary School in South Tyneside. The exterior of the building features cedar cladding and a pitched roof, and the final building is finished to a very high specification. All the external finishes such as the cladding and the pitched roof were carried out by Thurston to the highest quality.
Due to the speed of delivery provided by the modular building solution, the new children’s centre was up and running in a short space of time, providing vital additional space for the school.
