Wakefield-based modular and portable building manufacturer Thurston Group has pledged to create up to 100 jobs over the next 12 months as it benefits from foreign-led growth.
Following a funding boost at the start of the year, the company’s plans to expand and develop the business abroad have been successful, resulting in significant growth.
Chief executive Jonathan Petch said: “Our plans to develop our export market have flourished and as a result trade abroad has increased tremendously.
“The majority of our website enquiries now come from foreign countries and we are currently trading in Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Ghana, Norway and Pakistan along with many other European countries. We are also currently trying to set up distributorships of our products in Mexico as this market poses huge opportunities for us.”
Based at Quarry Hill Estate in Wakefield, Thurston Group was established in 1970.
Jonathan Petch added: “Expanding abroad has been no mean feat, but thanks to the support and advice we received from our accountants Mazars, the process has been simpler than we originally anticipated.”
