To design, manufacture and install a modular building for use as a children’s centre at Tang Hall Primary School in York.
Working in partnership with our customer, we developed a design which suited thier needs perfectly. Overall the building consisted of 12 modular bays which provided enough floor space in the centre to accommodate a kitchen, toilet facilities, treatment areas and a large nursery space. The building qualifies under the BBA specification as a high quality structure which means that is has a 60 year design life.
Externally the building is brick clad and features a pitched roof and internally the décor was finished to be bright and colourful for the children. As we offer a wide range of design and décor solutions, we were able to work closely with the client to ensure that we met their exact specifications both in the layout and the finish of the building.
Upon its opening, the City of York Council’s director of Children’s Services Pete Dwyer, said: “At the time of its opening, the former school was seen as ultra modern in its open design , giving children lots of sunshine and fresh air.’’ It was called by the local media “a sunshine school for York” and was described as “one of the finest elementary educational buildings in the country”.
